Jordan Sheffield

Jordan Sheffield was taken 36th overall in the 2016 draft.  A draft that is beginning to look like a great one for the Dodgers.  With the pick they gained by failing to sign Kyle Funkhouser, the Dodgers drafted the starting pitcher out of Vanderbilt.  After a few seasons as a middling starter in the minors, the Dodgers shifted Sheffield into a relief role this season and the results have been great so far.

After pitching seventeen plus innings with the Quakes, Jordan was promoted to the Tulsa Drillers. With the Quakes, he held the opposition to a .109 average and struck out 26 batters in seventeen innings.  In Double-A, Sheffield has continued his success posting an ERA of 1.08 in eight innings while holding batters to a .071 average.  At this rate, Jordan could reach Triple-A in the coming months and eventually earn his first call-up to the big leagues.
