Gavin Lux
The question for Gavin Lux has never been if he can hit at the upper levels of the minor leagues, it has always been about defense. After coming up as a shortstop initially, the Dodgers have tried to move Lux to second base but ultimately he has played the bulk of his games this season at shortstop.

Offensively, Lux is a hitting machine and could be the Dodgers’ every day second baseman in 2020. At his current rate, he could even get a look in 2019 if Enrique Hernandez continues to struggle and Chris Taylor cools off. Lux began the season in Double-A and hit .313 with thirteen home runs earning an all-star nomination.
Lux was promoted to Triple-A after the all-star game and has gotten off to a quick start with the OKC Dodgers. Entering Saturday’s game, Lux had four hits in two games including two doubles. All that is left for Gavin to prove in the minor leagues is that his defense is adequate enough to not hurt the big league club. If he can prove his defense is good enough, he is big league ready now.
Back in 2015, Corey Seager came up at the end of the season and hit .337 earning him the starting job into the postseason. Lux could be a similar story in 2019 if he comes up in September and tears the cover off the ball. Until Chris Taylor’s recent hot streak and Max Muncy’s shift to second base, the Dodgers were lacking punch at second. Lux could be a big wildcard for the 2019 Dodgers heading into the postseason.
