Dodgers take on the Yankees in a potential World Series preview
Yankees offensive ranks in MLB: Runs (1st), HR (2nd), OPS (3rd)
In what comes as no surprise, the Bronx Bombers are one of the best offensive teams in baseball. They lead MLB in runs and are second in home runs, bashing more home runs than the Dodgers so far this season. The only surprise is how they have received their offensive production. Ex-Rockie DJ LeMahieu is having a great first year in New York, batting .331 with 21 home runs. Leaving Coors Field has not hurt his production.
Third baseman Gio Urshela has had a breakout season as he is batting .336 with 18 home runs while playing solid defense at the hot corner. Mike Tauchman has been another surprise contributor with 12 home runs and an OPS north of .900. Aaron Judge and Didi Gregorius have returned from injuries and are back to producing for New York.
Outside of injuries and surprise contributors, the Yankees still have their usual sluggers in Gleyber Torres, Gary Sanchez, Luke Voit, and Brett Gardner. New York already has three hitters with 20 or more home runs and that is with Judge and Gregorius only missing the mark due to their time on the IL. The Yankees powerhouse offense will be a good test for the Dodgers’ pitching staff.
