Dustin May heads back to the pen

Prior to Friday’s game, Dave Roberts said that Dustin May will pitch out of the bullpen on Sunday.  With Ross Stripling returning from the IL, there is a chance that Stripling could get the start on Sunday.  This will be May’s first relief appearance since he struggled in Atlanta and gave up a grand slam.

While Dustin May has a 4.07 ERA overall, he has been very good as a starting pitcher and holds a 2.82 ERA in four starts.  The sixth inning has been May’s culprit with an ERA of 24.30  Dustin will get his second chance at coming out of the bullpen on Sunday, and look to prove that he is capable of pitching out of the bullpen in October.

That is if Rich Hill comes back and retakes his fourth starter role.  Hill has begun throwing bullpen sessions lately and seems like a near lock to return.  That leads to the other rookie starter for the Dodgers, Tony Gonsolin.
