Blake Snell (4.28 ERA, 3.39 FIP) vs. Ross Stripling (3.40 ERA, 3.71 FIP)

In the series opener, the Dodgers will face last year’s American League Cy Young winner.  Luckily for the Dodgers, Snell will be limited to three innings as this will be his first big league action since July.  Snell underwent surgery for “loose bodies” in his pitching elbow and will only go three innings max.

The Dodgers missed Snell earlier this season when they played in Tampa Bay, and the Dodger who has faced him the most is Russell Martin who is 0-6.  David Freese and Jedd Gyorko are the only Dodgers outside of Martin who have faced Blake Snell before.   Both have two at-bats against him and Gyorko has a base hit.

For the Dodgers, Ross Stripling will take the mound as he continues to battle for not only a postseason roster spot, but also a chance to be the club’s fourth starter in the postseason.  The Rays got a look at Stripling earlier this season with Jesus Aguilar (1-6) and Matt Duffy (0-3) having the most at-bats against him from their time in the National League.
