MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA – OCTOBER 07: Sergio Romo #54 of the Minnesota Twins throws a pitch in the eighth inning of game three of the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees at Target Field on October 07, 2019 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. (Photo by Elsa/Getty Images) /

Sergio Romo

The Dodgers signed Sergio Romo in 2017 and he struggled and was designated for assignment in July of that season.  He finished strong that second half and has spent the last two seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays, Miami Marlins, and the Minnesota Twins.  Romo had a strong season with the Marlins and Twins in 2019 and helped the Twins make their playoff push which resulted in winning the AL Central.

Sergio Romo was effective against both left and right-handed batters last season as he held lefties to a .242 average and righties to a .205 average against.  Like Cishek, Romo was excellent at limiting hard contact in 2019, as his average exit velocity was 84.6 MPH which ranked eighth among pitchers with 100 batted balls.

Sergio Romo comes with plenty of veteran experience and is likely to sign a one year deal due to his age.  He could be a cheap but rewarding signing for Andrew Friedman if he tries to make it work one more time with Romo.
