Joe Smith

Joe Smith’s former teammate Will Harris will be a popular target on the free-agent market but Smith will be a bargain for whichever team signs him.  Like Romo, Harris will turn 36 next season so he will likely get a one year deal.  Smith had an abbreviated season for the Astros as he injured his Achilles tendon but he was very effective when he returned.

In 25 innings for the Stros, Harris pitched to an ERA of 1.80 and a WHIP of 0.96.  He limited left-handed hitters to a .229 average and righties to a .196 average against.  Like the other relievers in this article, Smith is effective against any batter which becomes more important in 2020 with the three batter minimum rule.  Smith is another reliever who should outperform his contract in 2020.
