The Dodgers may have missed out on Gerrit Cole Tuesday night but there have been plenty of rumors flying on Wednesday at the Winter Meetings.
Gerrit Cole signed Tuesday night pushing the Dodgers to be linked to Madison Bumgarner of all players. Wednesday is typically one of the more active days at the Winter Meetings with the event concluding with the rule five draft on Thursday. Here are the rumors that have involved the Dodgers on Wednesday:
Dodgers linked to Francisco Lindor again
During the World Series, there were rumors about the Dodgers possibly pursuing Francisco Lindor and those rumors have once again surfaced. Bob Nightengale reported that the Dodgers and the Cleveland Indians are in trade talks involving the superstar shortstop. Nightengale named Gavin Lux and Dustin May as targets for the Indians and that would be quite a haul for the Dodgers to give up.

Ken Rosenthal: Dodgers pessimistic about landing Anthony Rendon
MLB insider Ken Rosenthal shared that the Dodgers are pessimistic about landing MVP candidate Anthony Rendon. The Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are also involved in the chase for Rendon. The Rangers and Angels are both serious contenders for him as the Angels have money to spend and the Rangers are looking to open their new stadium with a star.
Dodgers interested in reliever Dellin Betances
With the Dodgers looking to beef up their bullpen, Jorge Castillo of the LA Times is reporting that the Dodgers are interested in reliever Dellin Betances. Betances is coming off a partially torn Achilles but when healthy he is one of the best setup relievers in baseball. Adding him to the back of the Dodger bullpen would bolster the eighth inning and also the earlier innings with Pedro Baez and Joe Kelly pitching an inning earlier.
Dodgers made a fair offer to Gerrit Cole
While the Dodgers came up short in their pursuit of Gerrit Cole, they reportedly made a record offer that was topped by the New York Yankees. LA reportedly offered Cole an eight-year deal worth approximately $300 million. The deal did include some deferred money.
If the Dodgers are going to make a splash before the end of the Winter Meetings, the clock is certainly ticking. The meetings will end Thursday and the Dodgers are still looking to make their first big signing of the winter. Will Andrew Friedman come away with a star or empty-handed?
