Dodgers legend: Sandy Koufax, Starting Pitcher

This one is pretty obvious, isn’t it? While the Dodgers have the modern-day version in Clayton Kershaw, adding Sandy Koufax to the 2020 rotation would be incredible.

A three-time Cy Young Award winner, nobody was more clutch than Koufax in a big spot. Over eight postseason appearances, his ERA was a microscopic 0.95. He won the World Series MVP award twice, while helping the Dodgers win three championships.

For all of the criticism heaped on Kershaw for his failure to perform in the postseason, Koufax would alleviate pressure from the fellow southpaw’s shoulders. He could take the ball in all of the critical starts during the postseason, allowing Kershaw and Walker Buehler to give the Dodgers Ace-type options later in the series.

Through the regular season, the 2020 Dodgers rotation is strong at the top, but there are some question marks in the back-end. Rather than relying on a bounce-back year from someone like Alex Wood, the staff would become deeper with everyone pushed down in the rotation behind Koufax. David Price would suddenly be the team’s 4th starter.

You couldn’t go wrong by making Koufax the one Dodgers legend you add to the 2020 roster.
