Just like Game 3, the Los Angeles Dodgers got the exact start they needed.

The Los Angeles Dodgers once again entered Saturday with their backs against the wall, facing Atlanta Braves ace Max Fried in a win-or-go-home NLCS Game 6. The good news is that LA had Walker Buehler starting this one, and he’s very familiar in these kinds of postseason situations.

You know what else is good? The offense coming alive again in the first inning. After Buehler went 1-2-3 in the top half of the first, the Dodgers came up to the plate and tattooed Fried, with Corey Seager and Justin Turner going back-to-back. That put LA up 2-0.

Check out these blasts:

But that wasn’t all. After a walk to Max Muncy and a single from Will Smith, Cody Bellinger knocked in another run with an RBI single to make it 3-0. We thought for a second we were about to re-live the first inning of Game 3, after which the Dodgers scored 11 runs, but Fried got Kike Hernandez to fly out to end the inning.

Also, just like how the end of Game 2 proved to be pivotal for LA in Game 3, one moment in Game 5 proved to do the same heading into Saturday. Marcell Ozuna’s baserunning blunder got the Dodgers out of a big hole. Instead of the Dodgers being down 3-0 in the third with a runner in scoring position, Ozuna left the bag too early on a tag-up and LA ended the inning on a clutch double play.

Seager then homered to kick off the top of the fourth and the Braves’ lead was cut in half. What came next? Six more Dodgers runs and a 7-3 victory, which is the reason why we’re playing right now.

You simply can’t give the best team in baseball a reason to stay alive, and that’s what the Braves have done. The Dodgers’ slow offense has been a big reason why they’re behind in this series, and now it’s waking up yet again, which could be a big reason they live to see another day.
