Dodgers catcher Will Smith wasn’t … exactly dressed for the occasion.

Alright, we think Los Angeles Dodgers fans are officially “ringed” out. After winning the franchise’s first World Series in 32 years, a number of players have followed suit by getting engaged or married. Time to celebrate, we guess!

First, Brusdar Graterol got engaged. Then Corey Seager got married. Then Dustin May got engaged. This weekend, Will Smith got married, but his situation wasn’t met with nearly as much adoration as the other three.

The Dodgers tweeted this picture of Smith and his now-wife, Cara, and some replies weren’t so kind, because, well, Smith’s outfit isn’t exactly what you’d expect from a formal standpoint.

Wrinkled shirt, wrinkled khakis, untucked shirt, no hair product … with your wife in her wedding dress? Did we miss something? Apparently we did!

That photo was from the night before at their rehearsal dinner.

But still … Cara in her wedding dress and Will wearing that? It’s certainly less egregious but remains a bit odd. We’re not fashion experts and we know the trolls on Twitter will criticize anyone any chance they get, but one could argue this deserves some of the attention it’s getting. Smith is a professional baseball player and he’s dressing like a sophomore in college who’s about to head to a grungy frat party.

Also, do brides typically wear their wedding dresses at the rehearsal dinner? We’re no wedding experts either, but that seems bizarre as well. Perhaps the picture could’ve been taken in front of the easel and the balloons instead of half of the front door? We’re also not photographers, so ignore us!

Nonetheless, you’ll be happy to know Smith did wear a tuxedo on his wedding day. Cara posted this photo on Instagram earlier on Saturday. Save the criticism for another time, people!

There ya have it! Cara did not wear her wedding dress to the rehearsal dinner, she simply just out-classed Will. As for the Dodgers catcher, well, he cleaned up pretty damn well after catching all that flak.

Congrats to the happy couple! Now, Dodgers fans will need a bit of a break from engagements and weddings this offseason. The 2021 campaign cannot come soon enough.
