The Los Angeles Dodgers are primed and ready to defend their 2020 world title, entering 2021 after “losing” the offseason to another team that resides within their own division.

So what’s their key objective? Show they don’t really care about all that.

It’s easy to get preoccupied with the pressure to win a “legitimate” title in a full season to quiet the masses, as well as the nerves that arise when there’s another bully stalking you from within your division’s walls.

Yeah, nah. Mookie Betts, Cody Bellinger and Co. aren’t concerned with all that.

They’re catching baseballs every which way, and you’re going to have to watch it.

All. Spring. Long.

We’re going to need spring training games to start ASAP, but we’d also like to thank the Dodgers for giving us something so much better than garden-variety highlights.

Max Muncy taking batting practice from hundreds of feet away? Sure. A blurry photo taken through a fence by a beat writer of…I think that’s…No. 79? Yeah, we’ll take that. Hook all the baseball content possible to our veins.

But this is quite obviously next level — and it’s safe to say Dodgers fans were thankful for the dose of joy.

Who do you think won the competition, and why was it Mookie Betts?

This will shock you, but Padres fans are already complaining about the casualness of this clip. They’d gathering in droves to beg the Dodgers to take competition seriously, and to win the game the right way.

First off? Pretty precious criticism coming from the team that just extended the Bat Flip King for 13 years. We kind of thought the Pads “got it”? Do they not get it?

Secondly? This isn’t the heart of October. It’s OK to have a little fun. And it does, in fact, show that the Dodgers can sustain their machine for the long haul.

As Dave Roberts said in his first speech to the gathered masses last week, this team has every intention of playing a full extra month of games. And in order to do that comfortably, it’s important they know when to remain loose, know when to buckle down, and know how to mix the two methodologies together when necessary.

The second week of spring training? An obvious time to relax. And if you’re not having fun with this video, you might want to head to the Gaslamp District and grab a fish taco.
