Dodgers: Max Scherzer clearly ‘furious’ after Clayton Kershaw single

Max Scherzer was getting along just fine, grabbing all the accolades in Dodgers Land, until Clayton Kershaw had to storm through those double doors off the IL and ruin things for him in his Monday night return.

Very unfair!

With Rams QB Matthew Stafford in attendance (he knows Kershaw from…uh…bowling practice, I think?), the lefty threw 4.1 innings (easeeee him back in, boys), allowing a single earned run and striking out five.

He also managed to slap a single during his limited time on the mound, something Scherzer hasn’t done all damned year. Clearly, it’s getting to him.

After Kershaw reached base safely right out of the gate, cameras caught Scherzer having a friendly little dugout meltdown.

Of course, the next time he takes the mound, he’ll be riding an .000 batting average across 56 plate appearances this year, the only statistical mark he’s posted lower than his 0.88 ERA in Dodger Blue.

Dodgers ace Max Scherzer is furious Clayton Kershaw got a hit before he did.

Just a hilarious display from the ace who just can’t turn off the intensity, even when he’s goofing around. Chin up, Max! You’ve got one RBI this year! One single RBI! An RBI that has us wondering how … you even did that!

Of course, the first person he chose to complain to was Trea Turner, who’s been with the righty every step of the way during his 2021 journey towards not getting a hit of any kind. From Washington, to Los Angeles, all across this great nation, Scherzer and Turner have rambled on, with only one man providing any sort of offensive production. This is both of their burden to bear.

Also, special shoutout to Walker Buehler, caught in the crossfire. Fully aware this is simply what you get if you add Max Scherzer to your team.

Of course, Buehler’s sitting pretty at .113.

In the resulting postgame press conference, Kershaw spoke mostly about his ability to contribute and how great it felt to get back after it just in time for the stretch run. He was humble. He was a perfect teammate. He didn’t bring up the single.

What a luxury it is for the final few weeks of September and the postseason to have Scherzer lined up for a Wild Card Game, followed by Buehler, Kershaw, and Julio Urias.

And what an unbearable bummer it will be when we reach the World Series and Scherzer has to bat mid-rally in Game 3.
