Dodgers Game Today: Dodgers vs Reds Lineup, Pitcher, Odds, Prediction, Pick, TV Channel for Sept. 18
By Jerry Trotta
The Los Angeles Dodgers dropped their series-opener against Cincinnati on Friday, as the lineup had zero answers for Luis Castillo, who out-dueled Walker Buehler by allowing five hits and racking up 10 strikeouts in 5.1 scoreless innings.
As they typically do when the Dodgers lose, the Giants won…despite having to come from behind in the ninth inning after the Braves stormed back to take the lead in the top half of the inning. Los Angeles now sits two games back in the NL West.
We get it, alright. The Dodgers can’t win every game and the Reds are a good team despite flying under the radar all year. Let’s see what the oddsmakers saying about LA’s chances to bounce back on Saturday afternoon.
What Time is the Dodgers Game Today?
First pitch from Great American Ball Park is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. EST.
What Channel is the Dodgers Game on Today?
This one will be broadcast on SportsNet LA for local Dodgers fans, while folks in the Cincinnati area should tune to Bally Sports Ohio.
Dodgers vs Reds Odds Today
According to WynnBET, the Dodgers are favored -195 on the money line (bet $195 to win $100), while the Reds are listed at +165 (bet $100 to win $165). As expected, LA is favored on the run line, too, getting -115 odds to cover a -1.5 spread. Cincinnati, meanwhile, has -105 odds to cover +1.5 (bet $105 to win 100).
The over/under comes in at 8.5 runs, with the over checking in at a -120 (bet $120 to win $100). The under is way cheaper at even money.
Dodgers Pitcher Today
Max Scherzer (14-4, 2.17 ERA) will take the ball for the Dodgers this afternoon. The Reds will counter with Sony Gray (7-7, 3.80 ERA), so this has the potential to be another pitcher’s duel in Cincinnati.
Dodgers fans should have Scherzer’s starts circled on the calendar at this point, because the three-time Cy Young has been lights out since he was traded to the reigning champs, going 6-0 over eight starts (51 innings) with an absurd 0.88 ERA, 72 strikeouts, a 0.667 WHIP and a 1.27 FIP.
Scherzer will likely have to be at his best on Saturday, as Gray has been lights out over the last month. During that span (seven starts), the veteran righty has allowed just 11 earned runs over a sizable 39.2 innings.
Dodgers Starting Lineup
Stay tuned! The lineup will drop closer to first pitch.
Dodgers vs Reds Prediction Today
While the Reds lineup is wildly underrated, we simply refuse to bet against Scherzer amid his incredible run in the second half of the schedule.
Expect a low-scoring affair in the hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park on Saturday. Scherzer shoves yet again and Los Angeles’ bullpen will lock down a big victory for Dave Roberts’ side.
Dodgers win a close one, 4-2.
