Here we are, folks! The final week of the 2021 MLB regular season. Sad times. But your Los Angeles Dodgers will be playing postseason baseball, so all is well!

LA still needs to catch the San Francisco Giants if they want to avoid a one-game playoff to begin their title defense, but they don’t exactly have an easy stretch. Three games against the San Diego Padres come first before a season-ending set against the NL Central champion Milwaukee Brewers.

The silver lining here is that both of these teams have nothing to play for. The Pads have been eliminated from the playoffs and the Brew Crew have clinched the NL Central.

Can the Dodgers take advantage of (potentially) a couple of apathetic teams with six games to go? Let’s check out the betting preview for Tuesdays’ action.

Dodgers vs Padres Odds Today

According to our friends at WynnBET, the Dodgers are heavy favorites on the moneyline, and it’s no surprise considering how they’ve handled the Padres in the second half (6-0). You can bet them -185 to win straight up (bet $185 to win $100) or get better odds by taking them -1.5 runs (they have to win by two or more) at +110 (bet $100 to win $110).

As for the Pads, they have friendly odds in both directions. Their +155 figure on the moneyline is a nice return (bet $100 to win $155) and if you take the +1.5 run line advantage (they can either win the game or lose by one and you cash the bet) that price changes to -130 (bet $130 to win $100).

The over/under for total runs scored has been set at eight. The over is -105 (bet $105 to win $100) and the under is -115 (bet $115 to win $100).

Dodgers Pitcher Today

This one’s a battle between two high-profile arms that haven’t exactly been pitching well lately. Walker Buehler (14-4, 2.58 ERA) will take on Yu Darvish (8-10, 4.21 ERA).

Buehler’s last month of starts hasn’t been great. Though he’s delivered two quality outings against the Padres and Reds, he was shelled by the Giants and Rockies, good for an ERA above 7.00 in September. As for Darvish, though he blanked the Cardinals across seven innings (in a game the Padres’ bullpen blew) and tossed six innings of one-run ball against the Angels, he was knocked around by the D-Backs and Giants (twice). His ERA has gone up nearly a full run since the end of July.

On the head-to-head, Darvish has plowed through the Dodgers this year, allowing just seven earned runs in his four starts, totaling 26 innings. Buehler, on the other hand, has had similar success against the Pads. In his four starts, the Dodgers have gone 3-1 and he’s allowed six earned runs in 26.2 innings of work.

Dodgers vs Padres Prediction Today

The Dodgers are two games behind the Giants with a week to play. They need to win and hope for a couple of San Fran slips if they want to avoid the Wild Card game against the St. Louis Cardinals, who are 5.5 games ahead of the next closest team.

Though they’ve tried to be the Dodgers’ rival over the last two seasons, the Padres have proven to be nothing more than a little brother. What better way for Buehler to get back on track before the postseason?

Dodgers win, 6-3.
