The Los Angeles Dodgers nearly needed extra innings to scrape past the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Wild Card Game on Wednesday night.

However, the slumping Chris Taylor smacked a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to send the Dodgers to the NLDS, where they’ll fittingly match up against the San Francisco Giants.

What more can fans ask for? A five-game series between two of the best teams in baseball is the perfect way to set the October stage. On top of reclaiming the NL West crown from the Dodgers, the Giants won the seasons series over their division rivals, but all that means nothing starting on Friday night.

Dodgers vs Giants Odds Today

According to WynnBET, the Dodgers are road favorites for Game 1. They check in at -120 on the moneyline (bet $120 to win $100), while the Giants come in as the underdogs at +100 (bet $100 to win $100).

The Dodgers are +145 to cover the -1.5 run line. The Giants, meanwhile, are -180 to either win outright or lose by one run. The over/under is set at 7.5 runs, with the over getting +104 odds and the under checking in at -130.

Dodgers Pitcher Today

On paper, the Dodgers look to have the pitching matchup. Walker Buehler, who finished 16-4 with a 2.47 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 212 strikeouts during the regular season, will take the mound for Los Angeles in Game 1. Buehler made a grand total of six starts vs San Fran this year, going 3-1 with a 2.19 ERA.

The Giants, however, will counter with their own stud in the form of Logan Webb, who went 11-3 with a 3.03 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 158 strikeouts this campaign. He dominated at home (6-0, 1.96 ERA) and held up well against the Dodgers, going 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA in three starts.

The stage has indeed been set.

Dodgers vs Giants Prediction Today

The Giants won the regular season series, 10-9. The Dodgers were 48-33 on the road. The Giants were 54-27 at home. Both starting pitchers have enjoyed success against their rivals. Could this be anymore evenly matched?

Will Los Angeles have the advantage given they played a high-stakes game just two nights ago? The Giants last played five days ago. Could they be a little rusty or do they pick up right where they left off?

Much like the Wild Card game, we’re expecting another low-scoring, pitching-dominated affair that comes down to the last couple innings. The Giants have technically been the better team this year, but the Dodgers will find a way to get the job done and pick up a MASSIVE Game 1 win on the road.
