In a win-or-go-home NLDS Game 4 for the Los Angeles Dodgers, the offense really needed to come out hot to start Tuesday night on the right foot.

Thankfully, it did, but the worry now is that it wasn’t enough. Somehow, in what feels like a blowout, the Dodgers are only up 2-0 after three innings.

How? They’re 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position and have left six on base — again, through just three innings!

Those are the kinds of numbers that come back to haunt you more times than not, and Dodgers fans are going to be at the edge of their seats for the remainder of the evening praying that LaMonte Wade Jr.’s great catch in left field to rob Chris Taylor of a bases-clearing double doesn’t end up being the difference maker.

The Giants’ 2021 luck continues after LaMonte Wade Jr. robbed the Dodgers.

After falling behind in the count 0-2, Taylor worked it full and got the exact pitch he was looking for. He drove a fastball to the warning track in what looked like an extra-base hit right off the bat. But Wade got a perfect jump on it and snagged it over his head as he came down and hit the left field wall.

Unbelievable. Had that ball dropped, the Dodgers would be leading 5-0 and the Giants would’ve really been in trouble after already using four pitchers through just three innings.

The Dodgers still have the Giants where they want them, but this Game 4 not requiring any sweat would’ve been the most ideal after LA was blanked in Games 1 and 3. Capturing as much momentum as possible with an offensive barrage heading into a potential Game 5 on the road was the dream.

Oh, wait, cancel this article.

Mookie Betts just blasted a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth. It’s 4-0, Dodgers. We got two of the runs back. Whew.

Good luck with the bullpen for the rest of the night, Gabe.
