It took every fiber of their being to put the San Francisco Giants to bed (for good this time), but the Los Angeles Dodgers are through to the NLCS.

It looked for a while that Darin Ruf’s 452-foot moonshot to dead-center field off Julio Urias to even Game 5 at one run apiece in the bottom of the sixth was going to haunt Dodgers’ fans memories all offseason.

Surely, the Giants would find a way to win after Ruf’s unfathomable heroics, right? Wrong! As if the winner-take-all affair needed another unlikely hero, Cody Bellinger smacked the go-ahead single in the top of the ninth to give the Dodgers the cushion they needed to close the latest chapter of this rivalry.

The win sets up a rematch of the 2020 NLCS against the Atlanta Braves. Of course, the Dodgers rattled off three straight wins to punch their ticket to the World Series after they fell down 3-1 to the NL East champs last year.

The Dodgers would love to get off to a better start this time around. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the betting preview for Game 1.

What Time is the Dodgers Game Today?

First pitch from Truist Park is scheduled for 8:07 p.m. EST.

Dodgers vs Braves Odds Today

According to our friends at WynnBET, Los Angeles is favored at -117 on the moneyline (bet $117 to win $100), while Atlanta comes in at +107 (bet $100 to win $107). Los Angeles is +140 against the -1.5 run spread, while the Braves come in at -160.

The over-under in this game is 8.0, meaning Vegas expects a pitchers duel.

Dodgers Pitcher Today

LA will start Corey Knebel once again as an opener, but Tony Gonsolin will come out of the bullpen and eat up most of the innings.

The Braves will counter with Max Fried (14-7, 3.04 ERA). You simply aren’t going to find a better pitcher — based on his current form — on the planet.

Since the start of the second half of the season, Fried ranks first in the majors in both ERA (1.64) and WHIP (0.83). He also ranks second in opposing batting average (.188) and OPS (.511), and is coming off six scoreless innings in Game 2 of the NLDS.

Simply put, the Dodgers’ offense will have their work cut out for them.

Dodgers Starting Lineup

Stay tuned! Tonight’s lineup should drop closer to first pitch.

Dodgers vs Braves Prediction Today

It speaks to the Braves’ resilience that they’ve made it this far without the likes of Ronald Acuña Jr., Marcell Ozuna, and Mike Soroka. If the Dodgers take them lightly, Atlanta will ride Fried and its hostile crowd to a Game 1 victory.

However, something tells us the Dodgers will ride the momentum from their thrilling Game 5 win over the Giants. With San Francisco officially eliminated, we might see Los Angeles play a more relaxed brand of baseball.

Dodgers take Game 1 on the road, 4-2.
