The Los Angeles Dodgers couldn’t generate enough offense, win a battle of the bullpens, or get out of their own way against the Atlanta Braves in Game 1 of the NLCS on Saturday night.

Those three things seem like they should’ve been the Braves’ problems, right?

But they scored just two runs on 10 hits and a walk, and Chris Taylor made a game-defining baserunning error in the top of the ninth to fully seal LA’s fate. Atlanta walked it off in the bottom half of the inning when Austin Riley knocked in Ozzie Albies on an offering from Blake Treinen.

They were that close to stealing Game 1 on the road. Had Taylor not gotten caught between second and third after a single off the bat of Cody Bellinger, Mookie Betts would’ve stepped into the batter’s box against Will Smith.

Ugh.

But Sunday night is a whole new opportunity, so let’s take a look at the betting preview for NLCS Game 2.

Dodgers vs Braves Odds Today

According to our friends at WynnBET, Los Angeles is favored at -170 on the moneyline (bet $170 to win $100), while Atlanta comes in at +155 (bet $100 to win $155). Los Angeles is -105 against the -1.5 run spread (bet $105 to win $100), while the Braves come in at -115 for the +1.5 advantage (bet $115 to win $100).

The over-under in this game is 7.5, meaning Vegas expects a pitcher’s duel.

Dodgers Pitcher Today

LA will start Max Scherzer, who closed out Game 5 of the NLDS against the Giants back on Thursday, while the Braves will counter with youngster Ian Anderson, who twirled a gem against the Brewers in Game 3 of the NLDS.

Scherzer has now thrown 12.1 innings this postseason, allowing just two earned runs and notching his first career save. But Anderson is one of the most promising young pitchers in the game, having five career playoff starts under his belt, which have resulted in a 0.76 ERA and 1.01 WHIP. That includes two starts against the Dodgers in last year’s NLCS. He totaled seven innings of work and allowed just two earned runs, but the second outing featured the Dodgers’ Game 7 victory to cap off the 3-1 comeback.

Don’t expect many runs to be scored off either of these guys.

Dodgers vs Braves Prediction Today

The Dodgers have seemingly been able to dispel bad habits for consecutive nights in a row in the playoffs, doing so against the Dodgers in Game 2, 4 and 5. We can safely assume that, especially against a team like the Braves, LA will be doing the same given the matchup is much easier.

While Atlanta has been a surprise this postseason, they’ve still failed to score enough runs to be deemed a serious threat. And with Scherzer on the mound, that should be enough for the Dodgers to steal one game on the road. At this point, given the state of their pitching staff, they really cannot afford to lose the second outing from the right-hander in three opportunities.

Dodgers win, 6-2.
