The Los Angeles Dodgers City Connect uniforms are nearly a year old – but they look as good today as they did last summer. So gear up.
The Los Angeles Dodgers City Connect uniforms made their debuts on Friday, August 20 2021 against the Mets.
The uniforms were a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the incredible 1981 season of Fernando Valenzuela.
That season — which was ultimately shortened by a player’s strike — Valenzuela ascended to superstardom and ushered in ‘Fernandomania.’
Valenzuela won his first eight starts of the season, five of which were shutouts. He finished the campaign with 13 wins and a 2.48 ERA.
In addition to Fernandomania, the Dodgers have an obvious and wonderful connection with the Latin community in California (and elsewhere). And finally, you’ll notice the City Connect gear has some Los Angeles street art-inspired spray paint splotches.
There were plenty of rumors last winter about a purple and gold Lakers-inspired uniform, but there’s an undeniably cool number of connections to Los Angeles with this uniform design.
