The Los Angeles Dodgers were swept by the Milwaukee Brewers in four games in the NLCS. As a result, the Dodgers failed to win their third consecutive World Series title this year after being crowned as champions in 2024 and 2025.

Now, the Dodgers have their entire starting lineup returning in 2027, which is a good thing for the most part. However, if the Dodgers want to make changes and reset a little bit, they could look to trade Teoscar Hernandez who is owed over $17 million in the final guaranteed year of his deal next season (club option for $15 million in 2028).

This would pave the way for top prospect Josue De Paula to start in left field. For that, we're going to explore three mutually beneficial Hernandez trades the Dodgers can make this offseason.

3 Teoscar Hernandez trades that could help Dodgers reset

Dodgers trade Teoscar Hernandez back to the Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays had some level of interest in bringing back Hernandez this past offseason after missing out on Kyle Tucker, a source told FanSided. Hernandez spent six seasons with the Blue Jays from 2017-2022, where he broke out as an All-Star outfielder.

The Blue Jays traded Hernandez to the Seattle Mariners following the 2022 season. Toronto is in need of outfield help and could reunite with Hernandez as their left fielder. They could then shift Nathan Lukes over to center field.

Dodgers trade Teoscar Hernandez back to the Astros

Hernandez began his MLB career with the Houston Astros, but only appeared in 42 games for them before he was traded to the Blue Jays at the 2017 trade deadline for Francisco Liriano. The Astros must add some outfielders this winter and a reunion with Hernandez makes sense.

Right fielder Cam Smith is the only mainstay that can be penciled into Houston's starting outfield at the moment. Adding Hernandez's right-handed pop would be beneficial for the Astros' lineup.

Teoscar Hernandez finds a new home with the Yankees

Speaking of right-handed pop, the New York Yankees could certainly use some to add to their lefty heavy lineup. While Cody Bellinger currently occupies left field, with Aaron Judge in right, Hernandez could bump Bellinger over to center field if the Yankees want to prioritize offense over defense.

The Yankees should consider bringing in Hernandez given the way their offense sputtered in the ALDS, when they got swept away by the AL East rival Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees are keeping GM Brian Cashman and manager Aaron Boone at the helm, but must make personnel changes to their roster ahead of 2027. Trading for Hernandez would be a solid start in improving their offense.
