4 Dodgers stars and 1 surprise pick who deserve spots on 2025 NL All-Star roster

There are five members of the Los Angeles Dodgers that deserve a spot on the 2025 National League All-Star Game roster, and one of them is a big surprise.

Starting this week, baseball fans are able to vote for their favorite players to start the 2025 MLB All-Star Game in Atlanta.

The first round of voting will run from June 4-June 26, with a second round of voting for the finalists going from June 30-July 2.

There's at least a few Los Angeles Dodgers players that belong on every NL ballot, and taking a more zoomed out look at the National League, there are five Dodgers players in total that I believe are deserving of a spot in the All-Star Game. Four of them are established stars, while one of them would be a surprise to the more casual baseball fans.

5 Dodgers who deserve 2025 All-Star Game roster spots (including one surprise)

Freddie Freeman

It's not really going out on a limb to say that Freddie Freeman is deserving of an All-Star nod this year. He should unquestionably be the starting first baseman for the National League and I expect him to run away with the fan vote.

Freeman is hitting .363 with an OPS of 1.044 on the season. Both marks lead the NL. As an eight-time All-Star with name recognition, an MVP award, and the bump that comes from playing for the Dodgers, Freeman is a lock to start the ASG in Atlanta - where he played the first 12 seasons of his career.

Shohei Ohtani

Shohei Ohtani will run away with the vote and be named the starting designated hitter. Ohtani could also end up as the leading vote getter across both leagues. He currently leads baseball in runs scored and home runs. He's well on his way to winning his fourth MVP award since 2021.

Ohtani is currently pacing to have 35 home runs at the break. That's a feat that has only been achieved six times in baseball history - most recently by Chris Davis in 2013.

Will Smith

Will Smith was selected to the All-Star Game in both 2023 and 2024, but he has never been voted the starter in the National League despite being one of the most consistent at the position over the last seven years.

This year, Smith has my vote to start. He leads all National League catchers in fWAR and OPS. He has the highest batting average of any catcher in baseball.

Maybe excited Chicago Cubs fans push Carson Kelly through in the voting. Either way, Smith deserves to have a spot locked up on the roster.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto

When you're given a 12-year, $325 million contract as a starting pitcher, you better be pitching like an All-Star.

Dodgers right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto was good in his rookie season, but went on the 60-day Injured List when he got hurt in June and didn't make the cut for the All-Star Game.

This year, Yamamoto deserves a spot. He has a 2.39 ERA through 12 starts with 77 strikeouts over 67.2 innings pitched. He is 8th among NL pitchers in fWAR and has done nine (9) starts of at least five (5+) innings while allowing two (2) earn runs or less,

Andy Pages

Andy Pages is a player that most baseball fans probably didn't expect to see make the All-Star Game this year. Casual baseball fans may not even know who he is.

But the Dodger faithful who have been watching Pages this year know just how impactful the 24-year-old outfielder has been.

Pages has 12 home runs, six stolen bases, and an OPS of .838 this season. He is 10th among NL position players with 2.4 fWAR on the year and 5th among NL outfielders.

There's a chance Pages gets passed over for some of the bigger names when it comes to All-Star consideration. But he is playing like an All-Star and absolutely deserves a spot on the roster, in my opinion.
