On April 5, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages was 10 games into the 2025 Major League Baseball season staring down a 3-for-30 slump.
Pages was hitting .100/.270/.133 with an OPS of .404. on a Dodgers roster that is loaded with talent from top to bottom. That’s not going to cut it, and all throughout April, Pages was feeling the heat and hearing the calls for his demotion.
But over the last few weeks, Pages has completely changed the narrative surrounding his future with Los Angeles. In his last 12 games prior to Tuesday, Pages was hitting .429 with an OPS of 1.226. He launched four (4) home runs and eight (8) extra base hits in that span with three (3) stolen bases. On Tuesday night in Miami, he added a 1-for-5 performance.
1.3 fWAR puts Pages third best amongst Dodgers players behind only Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Shohei Ohtani. Pages is 29th in fWAR across all of Major League Baseball and has firmly solidified himself as a fixture of the Dodgers' core. He has cemented a role for himself, not just for the rest of 2025, but the foreseeable future.
Dave Roberts praises Andy Pages after Dodgers turnaround
As Ken Rosenthal recently shared on Foul Territory, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts often refers to hitting as Pages’ "superpower." He comes by hitting naturally, which has Dodgers coaches and teammates alike encouraged a slumping Pages to play a little bit more free and be loose in the batter's box.
"It seems to have liberated him. He was a guy who was a big question at the start of the season and now it looks like he might be part of their core group, integral to what they do," said Rosenthal on Tuesday.
Pages was the No. 3 ranked prospect in the Dodgers' farm system last season. He made his major league debut in mid-April and proceeded to play in 116 games, hitting 13 home runs with an OPS+ just above average at 101.
The Dodgers and their fans demand excellence. You can afford to when you're the reigning World Series champions dishing out a payroll north of $300 million, so I’m not going to blame anyone who was ready for Pages to be sent back to Triple-A Oklahoma City when he was slumping. But he has definitely proven his doubters wrong.
He’s even proving to be a better defender than most people give him credit for. Anyone watching Tuesday night's game learned this in a flash, if it hadn't already been clear.
“Andy’s doing great I’m happy for him. He has worked hard," said Dave Roberts when he found out that Pages was being named Co-Player of the Week in the National League. "As a young player, to scuffle and struggle and still keep some confidence and keep going and then be rewarded like? That is pretty great. I’m sure it’s going to be one of many more to come."
Pages is now on pace for 27 home runs and a 6.0 fWAR Season. To put that into perspective, Only 11 players in Major League Baseball had more than 6.0 fWAR in 2024. The only Dodger to do it was Shohei Ohtani.
We're dealing with a 24-year-old rising star that the Dodgers can plan on having in center field for years to come.
