Blake Snell blasts fan on Twitch in hilarious fashion for Dodgers injury situation

Well that escalated quickly...

In a surprising turn of events last week, Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell went off on a Twitch viewer during a livestream. As soon as the viewer poked fun at Snell for being on the Injured List, Snell didn't hold back.

"Like I can (expletive) control that," Snell said sarcastically. He then reminded his fellow streamer and other listeners that he has legit shoulder inflammation from overexertion during last year's playoffs, and there's nothing to be done but heal. "What the (expletive) you want me to do?" Snell asked.

Snell wants to be out there. He's a competitor, and his desire to play injured during the 2025 postseason should destroy any doubts that people have about his toughness. He also said this offseason that he wanted to be ready for Opening Day, but the Dodgers are being careful with him. His new timeline for a return lands somewhere around late May.

A few days later, Snell issued a half-hearted apology, "I should watch my language a little bit, but outside of that, it was pretty true."

Why is anyone questioning Blake Snell's IL stint with Dodgers?

It's funny how people tend to kick other people when they're down. The Athletic hit Snell with a weird stray recently in predicting that teammate Justin Wrobleski will outperform Snell in 2026.

Anyone hating on Snell for resting up his shoulder basically needs to look in the mirror and reconsider some things. There's also the fact that the Dodgers have a unique philosophy about slow-playing the return of their injured players, particularly pitchers. The goal is for Snell and any other injured arms to be healthy when the games really matter in October. If that means taking a longer rehab/rest period than required, so be it.

The Dodgers will make 100% sure that Snell is more than medically cleared to pitch (and then some) when he returns. They have a wealth of starting pitching depth to cover for Snell in the meantime, not to mention a star-studded lineup capable of supplying ample run support for times when the rotation isn't at full strength (which has happened quite often during this ongoing Dodgers dynasty).

Snell's pair of Cy Young trophies are evidence of his greatness, and his willingness to put his arm in harm's way is evidence of his toughness and love for the game. We knew all of this, but what some of us didn't know was that Snell was ready to plainly defend himself against any and all "fans" looking to talk down to him over a livestream. Good for Blake. Get healthy soon, and go get that second ring this fall.
