Bleacher Report proposes Dodgers-Kyle Tucker trade that would make LA ridiculous juggernaut

Over just the past week, Kyle Tucker has emerged as perhaps the most sought-after trade candidate on the market. Astros GM Dana Brown told reporters at spring training that Houston was open to trading Tucker along with Framber Valdez, and it's no surprise that interested teams have already started to line up. The Yankees and Cubs seem to be the most invested, but the Phillies have also been mentioned, and it wouldn't be surprising if more come out of the woodwork.

Tucker was hurt for most of the 2024 season, but still managed to hit 23 home runs in just 78 games, and he earned his third consecutive All-Star nod. Teoscar Hernández and Anthony Santander are the top two outfielders left on the free agent market, but the options thin out from there, so it makes sense that teams would be jumping on Tucker.

The Dodgers haven't re-signed Hernández yet. Although they do seem to be making it a priority, there's no guarantee he'll come back, so they might need to look for a replacement outfielder.

Bleacher Report laid out seven potential trades for Tucker with the Blue Jays, Padres, Dodgers, and Giants as "mystery teams" and the Phillies, Cubs, and Yankees as actual suitors. For the Dodgers, they put together a trade package including Max Muncy and Bobby Miller in exchange for Tucker.

A Tucker-Muncy swap would sort of solve problems for both teams. The Dodgers need an outfielder, and the Astros probably want to move on from Mauricio Dubón. However, the Dodgers have already said that Muncy will be their Opening Day third baseman, and trading him would leave them without any decent options for third. Chris Taylor and Miguel Rojas are on the bench, but neither are ideal candidates.

If the Dodgers really wanted to get crazy with it, they could trade Muncy for Tucker and then try to swing a trade for Nolan Arenado, who has made it pretty clear where he'd like to end up if the Cardinals let him go this offseason.

Still, it doesn't seem plausible. The Dodgers love Muncy, who also had a nice season despite being mostly hampered by injury, and they're not going to let him go for a player who's spent his entire career on a team fans hate (though Tucker wasn't a member of the trash can banging 2017 Astros).

With all of the heat around Tucker, it feels likely that he does get traded this offseason, but it almost certainly won't be to the Dodgers.
