Brutal Andy Pages defensive play, Dodgers' Triple-A dugout reaction spark rumors

The Los Angeles Dodgers suffered their second loss of the season on Sunday in Philadelphia, which is two losses too many for the impatient fans of the best team in baseball. Of course it is. After the amount of money they spent to defend their title, anything less than perfection is not enough, and if one singular piece of the puzzle isn't working, then it's time for a swap.

Andy Pages, one of the final pieces of the current roster puzzle ... isn't working.

Pages was brought aboard by Dave Roberts to begin the season, but is hitting .118 with a .415 OPS after getting mostly squeezed out of the lineup by Michael Conforto, Teoscar Hernández, and Tommy Edman. He received the start on Sunday, but helped fuel a Phillies comeback after the Dodgers had rallied for three runs to take a 7-6 lead in the top of the seventh. The first batter of the bottom half of the frame roped a ball to center, and while Pages probably wouldn't have corralled it without a perfect jump, he didn't help his own case by reading the knuckle wrong and getting turned around entirely.

To add insult to insult, the Triple-A Dodgers' dugout was spotted (seemingly) congratulating Hyeseong Kim on OKC's broadcast. Is LA already prepared for an early shakeup?

If Pages were hitting, one defensive problem in a harsh road stadium wouldn't be as significant an issue. Unfortunately, his calling card hasn't shown up yet in 2025, so it may be time to pull the emergency Kim lever.

The Dodgers' surehanded offseason signing started his stateside career at Triple-A after a less-than-impressive spring, but has hit .273 with six RBI and an .823 OPS in his first 33 at-bats with Oklahoma City. It could be premature to read the Comets dugout's tea leaves, but with the buzz building surrounding Pages' poor fit on the MLB roster, it's increasingly clear the Dodgers have to try something else. Maybe it's a larger-scale shakeup. Maybe it's a casual one-for-one. Either way, LA has to try to make this flight happy after the first deflating weekend of the season.
