Dave Roberts haters will be devastated to know Dodgers will be keeping him much longer

With their NLCS Game 6 win over the Mets, the Dodgers took the franchise's 25th National League pennant. They'll stay in LA for the first two games of a Dodgers-Yankees World Series starting on Oct. 25, the first time the two teams will meet since 1981 and the 12th time in both teams' histories.

Although the Dodgers' victory in the LCS was pretty much never in doubt, they had to wade through a slog this season and during the LDS, after a long year full of injuries and a fiery first postseason series against a hated rival. They had their detractors because of the copious injuries to the pitching staff and the strength of that Padres team, but they used it as fuel and pushed through to get just four wins away from their eighth World Series championship.

Through all of it, the Dodgers have had manager Dave Roberts, who has a line of detractors many miles long. Roberts has certainly made plenty of gaffes this season both in-game and out, and some questions have been raised about his future with the team, given that his contract expires at the end of the season. However, with the Dodgers' LCS win, he became the 25th manager in baseball history to win four pennants, and the only active manager alongside Bruce Bochy.

Those detractors can stay in line. Roberts isn't going anywhere.

Dave Roberts all but solidifies future with the Dodgers after LA's NLCS win

Barring the possibility of some absolutely unforgivable decision-making during the World Series, Roberts is likely to remain the Dodgers' manager for the foreseeable future. Even if the Dodgers lose out on the big prize, there's almost no way the front office will let him go after what he's managed to do with the team this season. He's led the Dodgers to the most playoff appearances and wins of any manager in the team's history, and his .627 winning percentage overall is the highest of any Dodgers skipper who's helmed more than 1,000 games.

Even with just three starters, all of whom gave fans reasons to be worried in the postseason, and a slew of injuries to both the pitching staff and position player group throughout the year, the Dodgers have made it to the World Series again, and that goes beyond accident or luck.

Roberts is beloved by his players and his record speaks for itself, but the fact that the Dodgers managed to rebound against the Padres and take another NL pennant from the Mets, Roberts' fourth in his nine-year tenure so far, is more than enough to show that he's going to be the Dodgers' guy for years still to come.
