Homegrown Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages has had a difficult start to the 2025 season at the plate.

After missing out on the Opening Day roster last year, Pages has been a regular in LA's pastures with rough results on both sides of the ball. He batted .151/.286/.283 with 19 strikeouts in his first 17 games before taking a minor leap forward against the Colorado Rockies. He occasionally makes good contact, as three of his 10 hits have gone for extra bases, but the low production isn't cutting it.

The National League West has been incredibly competitive in the early goings of the season, and if the Dodgers hope to stay near the top of the pack, they need their best bats in the lineup as often as possible. Manager Dave Roberts gave a timeline for when he may begin exploring other options if Pages can't hit his stride on offense.

“I think for Andy’s situation, I’ve used that 150 plate appearance benchmark,” Roberts said on April 13.

Pages is up to 64 plate appearances and still has quite a while to go before Roberts and the Dodgers look to swap him out unless something drastic changes. Roberts is usually supportive of his players and it's strange for him to be so open about the timer on Pages' production, but the added pressure could help the outfielder turn things around.

Pages hasn't stood out in the Dodgers' lineup offensively or defensively, but he's shown flashes of skill on both sides, including his two early homers. On April 12, he made an outstanding catch in center field to rob the Cubs' Michael Busch of a two-out grand slam.

If Pages can't remedy his struggles at the plate before his 150 plate appearance timer expires, LA has a few options to fill his spot in the batting order. Hyeseong Kim is off to a great start in Triple-A Oklahoma City. He's batting .268/.333/.521 with a .854 OPS and 13 RBI in 16 games. He also posted a two-homer night on April 12, the same day as Pages' grand slam robbery. If the Dodgers decide to call him up, he could be placed at second base to send Tommy Edman back to center field, where he played 310.2 innings without an error for the Cardinals in 2023.
