Dodgers fans are fed up with Andy Pages after his lame attempt to rob another HR

He has to be kidding, right?

After a breakout campaign during the regular season, it hasn't been an encouraging playoff run for Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Andy Pages. Heading into Game 3 of the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays, there was a belief that Pages could be removed from the starting lineup amid his struggles. Instead, Pages remained in the lineup and may have left Dave Roberts no choice but to bench him in Game 4 on Tuesday night.

Freddie Freeman's walk-off home run was the heroic moment for the Dodgers on Monday night, but it was almost a completely different story for Los Angeles early in the game. Alejandro Kirk's three-run home run in the fourth inning of Game 3 had Tyler Glasnow on the ropes, and Pages did his team no favors.

Kirk's home run just cleared the wall in center field, and it seemed like Pages made a business decision with his effort.

It appeared that Pages had a slow jump initially once Kirk made contact, and tried to make up for it as the ball continued to sail. Once Pages was approaching the outfield wall, it wasn't exactly a great leaping effort. Instead, Pages barely got up off the ground, and the ball landed just past him beyond the fence.

Andy Pages sparks outrage from Dodgers fans after lazy HR try

This isn't exactly a new thing for Pages, either. When Yoshinobu Yamamoto was flirting with a no-hitter against the Baltimore Orioles in September, Dodgers fans were quick to point out the lack of effort from the 24-year-old outfielder when Jackson Holliday ended the bid with a home run. Monday's effort looked pretty similar.

It's fair to wonder if Pages is taking his offensive struggles onto the defensive side of the ball. Ahead of Game 4 on Tuesday night, he has a slash line of .083/.120/.104 with a wRC+ of -41 in 52 plate appearances during the Dodgers' playoff run. This cannot continue.

After playing 18 innings on Monday night, it's safe to say that there may be some changes to the Dodgers' lineup in Game 4. Pages was removed from Monday's victory for Alex Call in extra innings, and it would be safe to assume he might start Tuesday on the bench. It's best for everybody involved because had the Dodgers lost Game 3, a lot of outrage would've been directed at Pages. He doesn't necessarily deserve it, either, if the Dodgers continue putting him in the lineup despite his efforts being a lost cause.

Make the change, Dave. And let's take Game 4 to put the Blue Jays on the ropes.
