Dodgers fans are taking a totally harmless San Francisco troll way too seriously

It's really not that serious.

Even if their rivalry with the San Diego Padres has taken center stage in recent seasons, there certainly is no love lost between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants. The rivalry between the two teams may have lost a step with the Giants struggling to remain in contention over the last year or two, but there certainly is still animosity felt between the two fan bases.

As in any city with public transportation, San Francisco likely has their fair share of fare-dodgers. Yes, we've seen it in movies all too often (or maybe even in real life): a dramatic chase leading into a train station that ultimately results in someone skipping over the ticket gate. Certainly a necessary scene for any action movie, but in real life, it's rightfully frowned upon. Not to mention, it's a crime.

Well, in an attempt to discourage fare-dodgers, the city of San Francisco had a subtle troll of the Dodgers.

Naturally, a brilliant troll job can't just exist on the internet. Someone in some corner is going to get offended, and rather than keep the irritation to themselves, they have to make sure the whole world hears about it. Yes, there's a clear shot being taken at Dodger fans with this sign, but it's not the end of the world.

It was harmless but some Dodger fans just can't let it go.

This was a top-tier reaction from T.Q. Let's highlight the fact that we are having so much fun being Dodger fans that we don't notice trolls. And how does T.Q. highlight that fact? By bringing attention to the very thing that was supposed to be ignored, and then having a paragraph caption about why it doesn't matter. That will really show San Francisco.

Trolls aside, Dodgers have the last laugh

The best way to ignore the trolls is simply by watching Dodgers baseball. LA has easily been the best team in baseball through the first few weeks of the 2026 season, and it's been a reminder of just how wide the gap is between the Dodgers and Giants. The Giants have underwhelmed to open the season with a record of 9-13, and the experiment of bringing in a top manager from the college ranks doesn't appear to be going too well.

Perhaps one day, the drama between the Dodgers and Giants can return to the games that are actually being played. In the meantime, Dodger fans, just realize that LA will be playing meaningful games in October and the Giants will be at home. At least, they can get a kick out of the troll job, though.
