The Kyle Tucker experience with the Los Angeles Dodgers is already exhausting, and it hasn't even been a full season yet. Tucker may have reached a new low over the weekend, considering Dave Roberts opted to start Alex Call in right field due to the veteran being in a slump that's specific to Dodger Stadium.
During the Dodgers' recent homestand, Tucker went hitless in 22 plate appearances. Making things worse, it would seem that Tucker has taken his offensive struggles into the field with him.
In the ninth inning of Sunday's loss, Tucker misplayed a ball off the wall, leading to Milwaukee extending their lead. Dodgers fans wasted no responding to Tucker's latest gaffe with a parade of boos.
Fans booed Kyle Tucker after he failed to make this catch in right field.

Kyle Tucker has impressively found a new low with the Los Angeles Dodgers
Setting aside his defensive efforts, or lack thereof, Tucker struggling at Dodger Stadium isn't anything new. Tucker is slashing .186/.286/.272 during home games this season, good for a wRC+ of 60. The one thing Tucker actually has done well this season is hit on the road, slashing .275/.371/.469 with a wRC+ of 131.
It's extremely rare, but it would seem that Roberts has opened the door to Tucker potentially becoming a platoon player down the stretch. Platoon situations aren't what's rare in that reality, it's that it would be tied to the Dodgers playing at home against playing on the road. Regardless, this is just the latest example of how much of a disaster Tucker's first year with the Dodgers has been.
If Tommy Lasorda were still alive and managing the #Dodgers, he would’ve pulled Kyle Tucker off the field immediately after that play.

Tucker’s body language after the dropped fly ball and after the play was over says a lot.
Cubs fans say ‘good riddance’ .. #Cubs https://t.co/0IqtbIunfY
As much as the Dodgers may not want to admit, there were signs last summer with the Chicago Cubs that Tucker, the person, isn't what most believed him to be during his time with the Houston Astros. Tucker had a prolonged offensive slumped that was propped up by two injuries, but there never appeared to be a point where he was on the same page with the Cubs.
Considering Tucker was essentially viewed as mercenary with the Cubs, the thought was that the motivation issues that popped up at the end of last season would quickly go away once he found a home in a free agency. That doesn't appear to be the case, considering Tucker still looks broken.
And look, we gave Kyle Tucker the benefit of the doubt. But going hitless for the entire homestand is flat-out embarrassing.

I cannot believe the Dodgers paid $60 million for this.
At some point, the benefit of the doubt has to run out. https://t.co/IYMzAaeoOE
For the Dodgers, there's not an easy out. Tucker is going to be on the roster in 2027, and nothing from his offensive performance since last July would suggest that next season is going to be any different. The Dodgers likely broke the system one final time with their signing of Tucker last winter. What they may not have realized is that this version of Tucker is quick to break fanbases.
