In 2025, the Dodgers were second only to the Yankees in runs scored, home runs, slugging, and OPS. They were led in all of those categories by none other than Shohei Ohtani, whose return to pitching didn't affect his offensive performance in the slightest. In fact, he topped his 54 homer season in 2024 with 55.
But the Dodgers are the Dodgers, and contributions came from all over the lineup. Freddie Freeman was LA's team batting champ (among qualified hitters) with a .295 average, and Will Smith ended the year just a few points away in average and slugging from a .300/.400/.500 season. Max Muncy turned his season around after a bad April and ended the year with a characteristically good line: .243/.376/.470.
Ohtani, Freeman, Smith, and Muncy have the chance to set yet another franchise record this season, this time in Silver Slugger wins. All four are nominated in the DH, first base, catcher, and third base categories. If they all win, it'll be a new franchise-high for Dodgers winners in a single year. The Dodgers are also nominated as a collective for Team of the Year alongside the Diamondbacks and Cubs.
Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, Max Muncy are Dodgers' nominees for the 2025 Silver Slugger
The other NL DH finalists are Kyle Schwarber and Christian Yelich, first base nominees are Pete Alonso and Matt Olson, catchers are William Contreras and Hunter Goodman, and third basemen are Matt Chapman, Manny Machado, and Austin Riley.
Last year, the Dodgers had three winners on top of the team award: Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Teoscar Hernández. Betts was left out of the nominations this year for the first time since 2021 after a down year, but he did get hot in the second half and has been looking like his usual self in the postseason.
Ohtani is well on his way to his fourth Silver Slugger (though Schwarber could give him a run for his money). Freeman also has three, but Muncy and Smith are still waiting on their first wins.
It's hard to complain too much when the Dodgers are more well-represented among nominees than any other team, but Andy Pages is almost certainly a snub. His 27 homers were the fifth-highest among NL outfielders and his 86 RBI were tied for sixth-most.
Finalists will be revealed exclusively on FanSided and The Baseball Insiders on Nov. 6, where the Dodgers will hopefully be looking at a clean sweep.
