Freddie Freeman added another milestone to his Hall of Fame-caliber résumé earlier this week, becoming the only active player with 2,500 career hits during the Los Angeles Dodgers' 12-3 rout of the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park on Tuesday night.
The nine-time All-Star reached the mark with an RBI single to center field off rookie reliever Brandan Bidois during the Dodgers' 10-run seventh inning. Freeman, now in his 17th Major League season, stands alone among active players, with Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve the next closest at 2,430 career hits.
At age 36, Freeman continues to perform at an elite level. And while 2,500 hits is a remarkable accomplishment on its own, he's already setting his sights on the next milestone. He's on pace for more than 160 hits this season, keeping him firmly on track in pursuit of 3,000 career hits. He also sits at 377 career home runs, putting 400 within reach over the next two seasons.

Dodgers News: LA patient with Mookie Betts as struggles continue
For the first time in his career, Mookie Betts looks mortal. He has stumbled out of the gate in 2026, batting just .185 with a .603 OPS through his first 34 games. His offensive struggles have become increasingly noticeable in the middle of Los Angeles’ lineup, where rallies have often stalled in front of Kyle Tucker.
Still, the Dodgers aren't ready to panic. As Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic (subscription required) noted, Betts remains a highly valuable player thanks to his defensive work at shortstop. Even if he never fully recaptures his MVP-level offensive production, a league-average bat paired with strong defense at the position would still make him one of the game's more impactful players.
Betts himself acknowledged the challenge of adjusting at age 33, telling The Athletic that many of the routines and habits that fueled his success no longer work the same way they once did.
The Dodgers are betting that time is on his side. The underlying metrics remain encouraging, and few expect Betts to continue producing at a 71 OPS+ pace for the remainder of the season.
Dodgers News: Freddie Freeman, Kiké Hernández, Miguel Rojas to compete on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune
Three of the Dodgers' most popular players are set to swap bats for buzzers this week on “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune."
Freddie Freeman, Kiké Hernández and Miguel Rojas will compete against one another in the series airing this week on Hulu/Disney+, with the winner earning up to $1 million for the charity of their choice. While the charities selected by the trio have not yet been publicly announced, the episode promises a fun showcase of the personalities that have helped make all three fan favorites in Los Angeles.
Freeman, Hernández and Rojas have each played key roles in the Dodgers’ recent success on the field. Now, they’ll have a chance to compete in a different arena while raising money for a good cause.
