There is no love lost between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres. Last year's Division Series between the two bitter NL West rivals was must-see TV, and in the end, the Dodgers came out on top.

This offseason has turned out swimmingly for the Dodgers with the additions of Roki Sasaki, Blake Snell, Tanner Scott, and others, as LA looks to maintain its stranglehold on the division.

On the flip side, it's been a winter to forget for the the team down I-5, as San Diego's only major-league signing has been for backup catcher Elias Diaz.

Dodgers' promotional schedule for first Padres series is an unbelievable troll job

But despite the Padres' offseason struggles, the Dodgers have no plans to let up once the season gets underway next month. Los Angeles is looking to become the first team since the New York Yankees in 2000 to repeat as World Series champions, and though the Friars haven't kept pace this winter, San Diego always gets up when they visit Chavez Ravine.

In an effort to combat that momentum and put San Diego in their place, the Dodgers' marketing and PR departments have done an amazing job with this year's promotional schedule. Sure, there's the Jackie Robinson replica jersey giveaway on April 15th, Shohei Ohtani 50/50 bobblehead night in late-August, and there's even a Dodgers hoodie available during the first homestand of the 2025 season.

But undoubtedly the best promo of the 2025 season will come when San Diego makes their first visit to Dodger Stadium in June. The Dodgers will be giving away Blake Snell bobbleheads on June 16, a replica of the World Series trophy on June 17, and gold player jerseys on June 18. If that's not the ultimate troll job, I don't know what is.

Obviously Snell won his Cy Young Award while pitching for the Padres in 2023. San Diego did not attempt to re-sign the left-hander that offseason, and he's now pitching in LA. The World Series trophy, something San Diego fans have never seen in their entire existence, is next-level genius on the part of the Dodgers' promo team. And then to cap it off with the gold-colored jerseys, a color featured prominently on the Padres' unis and meant to celebrate their gilded title, just adds insult to injury.

The only thing that would've put this promotional stretch over the top was a Sasaki jersey giveaway, but the Padres are only in town for three days. Bravo, Dodgers! Bravo!
