The Los Angeles Dodgers may have been a bit hasty in their trade of Gavin Lux to the Cincinnati Reds this offseason.
The former first-round pick and top prospect is off to a great start with the Reds, slashing .276.370/.381 over his first 39 games, to rival his production from 2022, the best season of his Dodgers career. Luckily, LA's return in the Lux trade has also gotten off to quite the start with the Dodgers organization.
Center field prospect Mike Sirota immediately took up the No. 19 spot in the Dodgers' pipeline and quickly showed the hype is well deserved. He began the season with Low-A Rancho Cucamonga and batted .354/.443.687 with a 1.130 OPS in 24 games. He mashed eight doubles, two triples and seven homers with 24 RBI.
Sirota's offensive onslaught in his first month of professional games earned him a quick promotion to High-A Great Lakes. In his first game with the Loons, he posted a three-hit day, including a double, with a walk.

Sirota's name was all over the California league leaderboards before his promotion. He's tied for the lead in homers with fellow Dodgers outfield prospect Eduardo Quintero and leads in slugging percentage and OPS.
The 21-year-old has already made his presence known among the Dodgers' long list of top outfield prospects. He'll play alongside the LA's No. 2 and 3 prospects, Josue De Paula and Zyhir Hope, in High-A as he tries to work his way up the top prospects list.
Sirota entered the 2021 MLB Draft after high school and was initially drafted by the Dodgers in the 16th round. He opted to go to college instead and played three years of baseball at Northeastern University in Boston before he was again drafted in 2024. He slashed .298/.473/.513 with 16 doubles, two triples, seven homers, 37 RBI and 19 stolen bases.
Sirota's professional career is still young, but if he keeps producing like he has in the early goings with the Dodgers, he could sprint up their top prospects list with his fellow outfielders. It will be a competitive race to MLB for LA's many outfield farmhands, especially if the franchise continues its torrid free agent spending of recent offseasons.
