After the Atlanta Braves' commanding 6-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies that featured some myth-making appearances for reliever Ray Kerr and future Hall of Famer Chris Sale, the Los Angeles Dodgers now know who their opponent is for the NLDS.
All of the Braves' runs came via the homer on Thursday night, with Michael Harris II, Ozzie Albies, and Matt Olson hitting their first long balls of the postseason. Meanwhile, the Dodgers were at home in Chavez Ravine, playing an inter-squad game that the stand-in Cincinnati Reds won 5-3.
Things are starting to come together for the Dodgers. Shohei Ohtani is (allegedly) feeling great, Edgardo Henriquez is all but a lock to make the postseason roster, and the Dodgers will have home field advantage for the first two games — though weather might be a concern.
The Dodgers and Braves will also both have the benefit of having their own announcer locked in for at least Game 1. Joe Davis will be on the call alongside John Smoltz, with Ken Rosenthal on the field.

The Dodgers and Braves have a lot of recent postseason history. This will be their fourth meeting in the last decade. LA has the better record overall, but the Braves are owners of the most recent last laugh, beating the Dodgers 4-2 in the 2021 NLCS en route to their first World Series victory since 1995.
Atlanta also has the better regular season record in 2026. In two series, the Dodgers could only eke out a single win, with Kyle Tucker, Shohei Ohtani, and Freddie Freeman getting the better of Sale.
Dave Roberts is still undecided as to his Games 1-3 starters. Yoshinobu Yamamoto is perhaps the most obvious choice, but there's some thought that lefty Blake Snell or Tarik Skubal will go first, to set the tone against a Braves lineup that has worse splits against southpaws.
The Braves are certainly fired up from their Wild Card Game 3 win, but they're also more depleted than the Dodgers heading into this best-of-five, and LA will certainly be counting on that was they look for their third consecutive ring.
