With Walker Buehler's final strikeout on Alex Verdugo to end the 2024 World Series, the door to the offseason opened. Other teams have already gotten to work — the Braves and Angels traded Jorge Soler and Griffin Canning on Thursday, along with a flurry of smaller moves around the league — and while the Dodgers' front office has some celebrating to do before they get back to business, it's going to be a busy offseason.

There are multiple important dates that fans should be aware of as we wait to see what the 2025 roster is going to look like. Even though we should expect it to look mostly the same, there are some big decisions and potentially surprising moves that the Dodgers should/can make over the next few months.

Important dates for Dodgers fans to know in the 2024-25 MLB offseason

Qualifying offer deadline (November 4, 2024)

The biggest QO candidate for the Dodgers this offseason is Teoscar Hernández (Jack Flaherty is ineligible, given that he split his season between two teams), who just made $23.5 million for a career-best season with the QO is set at $21.05 million this year. The Dodgers could do some interesting gaming of the system here and extend him the offer knowing he would decline, and then they'd receive a compensatory draft pick. If he accepts, they'll be very excited.

GM Meetings (November 5-7)

GM Meetings (different from the Winter Meetings, mind you) usually pass without fanfare. They'll take place in San Antonio this year. This even mostly allows GMs just to get into a room at the end of a season and take stock before the real work starts.

Non-tender deadline (November 22, 2024)

The Dodgers can non-tender any arbitration-eligible player, which would immediately make that player a free agent. Non-tenders are usually pretty unpredictable, as teams sometimes just use them to clear roster space or to avoid rising arbitration costs, but of the Dodgers' nine arb-eligible players, two might be worth watching. Dustin May has never pitched over 56 innings in his career and incurred a weird esophageal tear this year, and Connor Brogdon only managed to pitch a single inning for LA after a trade from the Phillies before he went down with plantar fasciitis.

MLB Winter Meetings (December 8-11, 2024)

The Winter Meetings are the centerpiece of the offseason, and where we can usually expect most of the big news to come from. Last year's meetings were an exception, given how slowly the market moved, but this is when GMs can really get into rooms and start dealing. The MLB Draft Lottery and Rule 5 draft also take place during Winter Meetings.

Pitchers and catchers report to spring training (February 2025)

This year, Dodgers pitchers and catchers reported a little earlier than almost every other club in order to gear up for the Seoul Series in mid-March. They have the Tokyo Series against the Cubs set for March 18 and 19 next year, so it's likely that they'll report to Camelback a week or so early again in 2025.
