Insider's gauge of Bobby Miller's trade value will shock (and relieve) Dodgers fans

A lot has been made of the Dodgers' overcrowded pitching staff and the futures of three young starters: Emmet Sheehan, River Ryan, and Gavin Stone (maybe even six, if you count Justin Wrobleski, Landon Knack, and Ben Casparius). The Dodgers may go to a six-man rotation in 2026 to give all of their injury-prone starters a guaranteed extra day off, and Sheehan would be the most obvious candidate to slide into that role, but that still leaves players on the fringes.

Questions about how Sheehan, Ryan, and Stone will fit into the picture are going to persist, and they'll all keep coming up in mock trades or "most likely to be traded" lists, but there's another pitcher taking up a spot on the 40-man roster that fans may have forgotten about.

Bobby Miller hasn't made a major league appearance since May 24, 2025, and he has a bad major and minor league track record extending all the way back to early 2024. It's been unclear why the Dodgers are still letting him take up precious real estate on the 40-man, but they may have no other choice if he looks as untradeable to them as he does to fans, or if they still see the slightest glimmer of potential in him.

But according to Dodgers insider Katie Woo, he might actually be more valuable as a trade candidate than fans think. She said on Dodgers Territory, "When you're looking at someone like Bobby Miller, that is someone with extreme value who might not have the same value with this current organization right now. [He's] a reclamation project that teams are gonna be jumping all over and he probably doesn't have a long-term place in this organization, but he's someone the Dodgers can move and still get value from because other teams are going to evaluate him differently than this current organization does."

Katie Woo believes Bobby Miller's trade value may be a lot higher than Dodgers fans ever expected

Everyone — not just Dodgers fans — anticipated LA making one more big move this offseason, and it happened on Thursday night when they signed Kyle Tucker. If the Dodgers still wante to revamp their outfield beyond that, they could reengage with the Guardians on Steven Kwan talks, and Cleveland has an impressive pitching lab that could look at Miller as a reclamation project, as Woo put it.

The Dodgers just don't have the roster space to give Miller much more runway in the majors. Of course, pitching always thins out by July, but we've already listed six players who don't have a guaranteed spot and have been more promising than Miller as of late.

It would be ideal if the Dodgers could actually dangle him as trade bait in a package to better fulfill their roster needs. It would certainly save fans the headache of watching him pitch.
