For plenty of baseball fans, the Los Angeles Dodgers have replaced the New York Yankees as the team to root against most, and that's despite having the global superstar, uber-talented and extremely affable Shohei Ohtani playing for them. The reality, though, is that it just doesn't take much for the Dodgers to rile up opposing fan bases these days.

On an individual level, arguably the most disliked player on the Dodgers roster, Kiké Hernández, in serves as the poster child for the resentment the Los Angeles franchise receives. As such, it made sense he would give rival fan bases (yet) another reason to dislike him and the team, when they received their 2024 World Series rings last Friday night.

As much as the Dodgers do outspend the rest of MLB and often bring in the best talent possible, they're not breaking any rules. Anybody complaining about is simply free to do the same within the regulations. In any event, it makes total sense that Hernández decided flipping the bird was an appropriate response to all the critics and haters out there.

Hernández's almost nonchalant attitude immediately brought back memories of last season's NLDS deciding game versus the San Diego Padres when he effectively scored the run which sent the Dodgers to the NLCS. During the postgame celebrations, he was interviewed by Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports and gave a quote which will long be remembered.

For Dodgers fans, this was music to their ears. But to others, Hernández's comments weren't received quite so well, including members of the sports media. For example, Yankees play-by-play television broadcaster Michael Kay said the f-bomb was disgraceful, which only further delighted sports fans in Los Angeles.

Among the various fanbases, Padres fans in particular had every right to hate Hernández, and not just because his homer helped end their World Series bid last year. That's because they were apparently one of four teams he was considering signing with as a free agent following the 2023 season, before blindsiding them and rejoining their hated rivals, the Dodgers.

In fairness to Hernández, though, he was ultimately proven to have made the right choice after going on to win his second World Series ring with the Dodgers. In any event, he doesn't care if anyone hates him. With the team off to a 6-0 start this year, he has a prime opportunity to flip everyone the bird once again.
