Kiké Hernandez roasts whiny Toronto media for ridiculous Dodgers comments

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Kiké Hernandez is one of the most unique personalities in Major League Baseball. Kiké's idiosyncratic instincts on the diamond are as differentiating and refreshing as his quirky charm off of it. On Sunday, Hernandez employed some of his sunny humor on Instagram to expose a bitter Toronto broadcaster.

Caleb Joseph, a former MLB catcher and current analyst for Sportsnet, couldn't help but succumb to the sore loser mentality on Saturday night following Game 7, as he announced to a live audience — replete with profanity — that the Toronto Blue Jays, despite losing the World Series to the Dodgers, were, in fact, the better team.

"It's gonna sound like sour grapes, and I don't really give a (expletive)," Joseph said. "I think the better team did not win this series. I think the Blue Jays are the better team, and I think that they played baseball a certain way that was infectious, that grabbed the attention of the fans, and it's disheartening to see that the better team did not win."

Joseph's postgame monologue went nuclear on social media, and it certainly didn't miss Kiké Hernandez, who took a swing at Joseph on Instagram and made great contact. On a glorious post depicting photos of Hernández posing with teammates and the Commissioner's Trophy, Hernández captioned the post, "I'M SO HAPPY THE BETTER TEAM DIDN'T WIN!!"

After such an insane Game 7 that — let's face it — could have swung in either direction in the end, there's no reason to be too harsh on Joseph, whose passion simply got the best of him in front of a mic (it's part of his job to avoid such a reaction, but some grace is surely warranted).

Joseph's take didn't have a ton of logic behind it, but neither did Game 7. Ultimately, the clear winner of the interaction is Hernández, who defused the tension with humor while also exposing Joseph for being, well, a sour grape.

Hernández spent Monday reveling in the bliss of another championship parade. And while Kiké could be seen hilariously telling Freddie Freeman during postgame celebrations on Saturday night that the two "did nothing" in Game 7, that wasn't the case for the whole series. Freeman's Game 3 walk-off was an obvious contribution, and Hernandez, despite hitting just .179 in the World Series, made an iconic, game-sealing play at the end of Game 6.

Sour grapes, clutch plays, executing when it's of the utmost importance. Yeah, all the same.
