After Dalton Rushing and Roki Sasaki's graduations to rookie status, international signing Josue De Paula has sat comfortably atop the Dodgers' prospect rankings in 2025. De Paula, signed in 2022 out of the Dominican Republic, has repeatedly been compared to Yordan Alvarez, whose trade to the Astros might be Andrew Friedman's greatest mistake as the Dodgers' president of baseball operations.
By the end of the season, three outfielders ruled the top of the Dodgers' pipeline: De Paula, Zyhir Hope, and the lesser known Eduardo Quintero. Hope has been outstanding ever since he came over from the Cubs in the Michael Busch trade and was promoted to Double-A right at the end of the minor league season.
Quintero, a Dodgers international signing out of Venezuela in 2023, has been a much quieter but no less excellent riser. He hit .306 with a .959 OPS in 81 games in Single-A before being promoted to High-A in late July, where he hit .259 with an .824 OPS in 32 games.
Baseball America is rolling out new organizational rankings for 2026, and it's not De Paula or Hope in the top spot; it's Quintero.
Dodgers outfield prospect Eduardo Quintero shoots to No. 1 in Baseball America's org rankings
By MLB Pipeline's estimations, Quintero and Hope grade out as almost identical players, but Hope profiles as having great power and Quintero is faster. They're both superior defensive outfielders to De Paula, who could have a future as a full-time DH if he's traded. De Paula faltered when he was promoted to Double-A at the very end of the season, going 0-for-18 in his first four games.
The Dodgers will almost certainly sign or trade for outfielders who could complicate this prospect trio's path to the majors leagues — this is a constant problem for the Dodgers that's currently complicating both Ryan Ward and Dalton Rushing's futures — but Teoscar Hernández's contract being up after 2028 (maybe 2027, if the Dodgers don't exercise their club option) lines up nicely with Quintero's expected arrival in the majors.
Baseball America projects that the Dodgers' outfield in 2029 will be populated by De Paula in left, Quintero in center, and Andy Pages in right.
Whether or not any of them will make it to the majors with the Dodgers is a dice roll. Apart from Rushing, their last four No. 1 prospects (Alex Verdugo, Gavin Lux, Keibert Ruiz, Diego Cartaya) have all been dealt to other teams. But if the Dodgers keep Quintero, De Paula, and/or Hope, they're lined up for a potential-filled outfield within the next three seasons.
