By some sick miracle, Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy has never won a Louisville Slugger Silver Slugger award. He's a three-time All-Star, has received MVP votes three times, and is the all-time home run leader at Dodger Stadium, but he doesn't have a Silver Slugger.
He's been a finalist, sure, but there's always been someone in his way. Nolan Arenado won in 2018, Anthony Rendon edged him out in 2019, and Austin Riley gave him grief in 2021 and 2023. All of these were 30+ homer seasons for Muncy — a collective 142 homers and 376 RBI over those four years.
On Thursday, 2026 Silver Slugger finalists were presented by FanSided, and Muncy is indeed among their ranks alongside Alex Bregman as the National League third base contenders.

Muncy and Bregman had very comparable offensive seasons in many regards, so this is sure to be a tight race. Muncy's 29 homers have the edge over Bregman's 28; Bregman's 93 RBI over Muncy's 76; Muncy's .837 OPS and 128 OPS+ over Bregman's .819 and 124.
To Dodgers fans, the answer is clear, and we're all just hoping the voters agree.
2026 might be Max Muncy's best shot at winning a career-first Silver Slugger yet
Padres fans are probably beside themselves after Manny Machado's 30-homer, 91-RBI season was snubbed, but Machado also barely batted over the Mendoza line and posted a career-worst slugging percentage. What Muncy and admittedly Bregman have in common is their consistency. Machado is just as much as easy out as he is a power threat.
Muncy is proving why the Dodgers have kept him around for so long. At age 36, he's still capable of hitting nearly 30 home runs a season and still finds ways to come through even when the rest of LA's offense can't get it together.
A Silver Slugger win this year would only further cement his legacy as a Dodger. He's not Shohei Ohtani or Mookie Betts or Freddie Freeman, but he's just as vital to the Dodgers' offense as they are. Sometimes, even more so.
Let's hope that the voters are bamboozled by Bregman's superior RBI and look at the facts here, while also remembering some context here. Muncy is possibly the most underrated Dodger of the last decade, and he's still more than productive — he's a staple.
Tune in on Nov. 17 as FanSided reveals the winners.
