In a new interview with ESPN's Jeff Passan, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider sat down to discuss the incredible 2025 World Series, and of course, Miguel Rojas emerged as a topic of discussion.
Rojas saved the Dodgers' season and became a World Series legend with one swing when he hit a game-tying home run off Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman in the ninth inning of Game 7.
In discussing the Rojas at-bat that went so terribly wrong for the Jays, Schneider reminded listeners that, on paper, the Rojas-Hoffman matchup was one that heavily favored Toronto.
"I can say, and this is no offense to anyone, that Hoffman vs. Rojas was the best (matchup for us) on the sheet," Schneider said, and his words did not escape the ears of Rojas.
Amazingly, Rojas himself commented on an Instagram video of the interview clip, responding to Schneiders' remarks directly.
Miguel Rojas replied directly to John Schneider's comments about the Dodgers-Blue Jays World Series
"Yeah the story of my life," Rojas said. "I’ve been Red on every managers card, I like taking a look even on my own team coaches card and see my name always in red, fire me up. Analytics never count the heart or the balls."

While Schneider and the rest of the baseball world may have assumed that Rojas wasn't a real threat in the World Series, don't include Roberts in that camp. The Dodgers manager gave the utility-man Rojas multiple opportunities to start in the World Series, and Roberts was ultimately rewarded for that decision in the most epic fashion imaginable.
Roberts' decision to stick with Rojas in the ninth inning of Game 7 against Hoffman goes against the analytical approach championed by Schneider and most managers, and it reveals what makes Roberts one of the best in the sport — he still operates on feel and instincts that have been honed through decades of experience.
“I understand the scrutiny of not optimizing a potential matchup," Roberts said previously about the Rojas decision. "But, for me, I’ve played in and managed plenty of postseason games and you’ve just got to bet on people. So I was prepared to just sell out and bet on Miguel Rojas.”
Miguel Rojas might make an excellent MLB manager in the future
Speaking of betting on Rojas, Roberts has come out recently and said that he believes Rojas will make a great MLB manager one day. As Rojas transitions into retirement following the current season, maybe he'll get the itch to stay in the game and end up managing sooner than anyone expects. Maybe he'll even get the opportunity to game plan against Schneider in the near future.
