Fresh off their National League pennant-clinching win over the New York Mets in Game 6 of the NL Championship Series Sunday, the Los Angeles Dodgers are officially bound for the 2024 World Series.

The Dodgers will take on the New York Yankees in a best-of-seven series, a marquee matchup between a pair of MLB superpowers representing the two largest cities in the United States. The Dodgers, making their fourth World Series appearance in the last eight seasons, are chasing their eighth title in franchise history and their first since 2020.

The Yankees, who took down the Cleveland Guardians in five games in the American League Championship Series, are appearing in the Fall Classic for the first time since they last won it all in 2009. They will be looking for their league-leading 28th World Series championship.

Because the Dodgers secured home field advantage throughout the playoffs after finishing the regular season with the best record in baseball (98-64) , the series will kick off Friday in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, four days feels like an eternity to wait for the series to begin – but really, the anticipation for this matchup has been brewing for years.
