Nationals Twitter admin was way too in their feelings while battling Dodgers Monday

Basically from Game 1 of 162, opposing fans started complaining about how often MLB's official social media accounts post about the Dodgers. This shouldn't have come as a surprise to anyone — it was clear even before they won the World Series that they were the Golden Boys of baseball and are just doing more than anyone else to bring new fans to the game — but non-Dodgers fans love to be presented with any opportunity to complain about the Dodgers.

Twitter user BrooksGate, who turns obscure stats into lo-fi graphics, sifted through MLB's Twitter account to count how many teams each of the 30 teams had been highlighted on that page from Opening Day to April 3. To no one's surprise, the Dodgers led the pack with 68 mentions, with the Yankees trailing behind at 52 before the Padres experienced a steep drop-off at 33, and so on.

It's become something of a league-wide meme, and the Nationals admin gleefully capitalized on the moment during their first game against the Dodgers in DC on Monday night. Shohei Ohtani hit a game-tying homer in the top of the third, which was quickly clipped and posted with a bombastic, uppercase caption, and to which the Nats' admin replied simply: "post dylan crews single."

MLB sort of acquiesced after rookie James Wood's two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh, but with a far more muted reaction as a caption, and the admin once again had a quick reply: "where did the caps lock go mlb."

And the Nats did put up a laudable fight, with MacKenzie Gore continuing to be a strikeout machine and taking down seven Dodgers batters via K, and Washington capitalized on — count 'em — three Dodgers fielding errors, two committed by Mookie Betts at shortstop that allowed the Nats' first and second runs to score.

Ohtani found himself a double shy of the cycle by the top of the fifth, but struck out and walked in his last two at-bats. Down by four in the eighth inning, the Dodgers attempted to stage a comeback rally, but stopped short after scoring two runs on a Betts RBI single and a Will Smith RBI single.

MLB did tweet twice when the Nationals ended up beating the Dodgers 6-4, and they even turned up the volume and tweeted in all caps, per the admin's request. Sometimes bullying works!
