The MLB All-Star Game might not be returning to Dodger Stadium in 2023, but there's still a high likelihood that Dodgers fans will be sending a large number of their beloved players to the Midsummer Classic.

That means it's time to prepare for the Fan Vote, and while it might not be as much fun as punching physical holes in ballots and returning them to the Dodger Stadium concourse, it's much easier to tabulate the votes these days.

MLB All-Star Game 2023 Details

This year's game will take place in Seattle, and the logo's beautiful. The game itself will take place on Tues., July 11, while the MLB Futures Game/Celebrity Softball Game will kick off the weekend on Sat. July 8. The MLB Draft will begin on Sunday, July 9, while the Home Run Derby will occupy the Mon., July 10.

While the balloting used to start way earlier when we were kids, with ballots cropping up across MLB when it was still chilly enough to wear extra layers, this year's online balloting will start in early June. Last season, the initial voting ran from Weds., June 8 through June 30, with the game taking place on July 19. Expect the whole process to move up a week earlier this time.

How does MLB All-Star Voting Work in 2023?

The top two vote-getters at each position advance to the second round of fan voting. Following the initial period, fans will select the starters by halving those two options over the course of another week of voting.

A player's ballot will then select the reserves, while the Commissioner's Office will fill in the last six spots on each roster (four pitchers, two position players) -- and, remember, every MLB team still must be represented.

As we've seen the past few years, plenty of players will drop out along the way as well, to be replaced by those who finished behind them in both types of balloting. As always, expect several Astros to opt out of the league-wide celebration of the game of baseball.
