The first two games of the Dodgers-Padres NLDS will be played at Dodger Stadium this Saturday and Sunday. Tickets for both are almost entirely sold out already, so if you haven't grabbed yours yet, you're going to have to run for them before they're put up for resale at truly ridiculous rates.
Unfortunately, the Dodgers have an uphill battle to fight against the Padres. San Diego potentially losing Joe Musgrove is a good thing for LA's chances, but the fate of the still-unpredictable rotation, as well as how the bats will fare under high heat, remain mysterious.
Luckily, in their time of need, the Dodgers will get a friendly, familiar voice on the call in the booth pulling for them. Joe Davis will announce the entirety of the DS on Fox and FS1 alongside color commentator John Smoltz.
Joe Davis and John Smoltz set to team up on the call for Dodgers-Padres NLDS
You can already hear Padres fans whining about this, and we may be biased, but Davis is good at staying impartial, sometimes so much so that it rankles Dodgers fans. This is, however, definitely a win for LA, as Davis has been calling this squad all year and knows the ins and outs of the team. As long as he's brings the same energy he brought to Shohei Ohtani's 50/50 home run, this is going to be good.
Game 1 starts at 5:38 PM PST at Dodger Stadium on Saturday night, while Game 2 is at 5:03 on Sunday (why the weirdly specific start times, no one knows). The Dodgers will save probably their most reliable starter in Jack Flaherty for Game 2, leaving Yoshinobu Yamamoto to face Dylan Cease, who had an annoyingly good two starts against the Dodgers this year.
With Bob Costas and Brian Anderson confirmed as being in the mix for the Yankees-Royals and Tigers-Guardians series — neither of whom have called any of these teams consistently, let alone day in and day out for almost 10 years — the Dodgers are definitely the big winners here.
