Reds vs. Dodgers prediction and odds for Saturday, July 29 (Expect plenty of runs)

The Dodgers and Reds should play a high-scoring game on Saturday night.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have dropped back-to-back games heading into Saturday’s matchup against the Cincinnati Reds.

Cincy has won seven of its last 10 games, pulling the team to within half a game of the lead in the NL Central.

Saturday’s game could be a high scoring one, as both teams are starting struggling pitchers in the matchup.

Luke Weaver (2-2, 7.20 ERA) gets the ball for the Reds, and he’s been awful over his last nine starts, posting a 9.41 ERA. Somehow, the Reds have won eight of those nine games.

Meanwhile, Dodgers youngster Emmet Sheehan (3-1, 6.75 ERA) is looking to rebound from his last outing when he allowed eight earned runs over 3.2 innings of work.

Here are the latest odds and my best bet for this matchup:

Reds vs. Dodgers prediction and pick

This game has “Bet the OVER” written all over it, and sometimes the obvious bet is the right bet.

Weaver has been struggling to get through a few innings the last two months, getting through five full innings in just two of his last nine starts.

He’s allowed at least three runs in eight of those games, and he’s giving way to a bullpen that has been average, posting a 3.94 ERA on the season. In Weaver’s starts since June, the Reds have cleared 10 runs in six of them, landing on 10 in one of them.

Sheehan was solid at the beginning of his career, but he’s been awful in three July starts.

The righty has a 12.41 ERA over those three starts, giving up 17 hits, 12 walks and 17 earned runs in just 12.1 innings of work.

Both of these teams are in the top 10 in Major League Baseball in OPS this season, and Cincy’s offense has really carried the team towards the top of the NL Central.

Let’s root for runs on Saturday night.
