The Dodgers took a blow on Monday, when they not only moved Edwin Díaz to the IL with loose bodies in his throwing elbow but announced that he would be undergoing surgery to remove them, which will sideline him until after the All-Star break.
It's certainly disappointing for a team that is paying Díaz $17 million this year, but as is always the case, the Dodgers have options. Tanner Scott's resurgence has been promising and he'll probably fall back into the interim closer role, even if it'll take some time for fans to fully trust him in those situations again.
The fact that the Dodgers are more than covered is only one reason why the latest fake rumor taking Twitter by storm is so laughable. An account going by the name of Holly Baylor, which has a profile picture we're almost sure is either lifted from a retail photoshoot (or is just AI) and has "parody account" in its bio, tweeted that the Dodgers have checked in on Padres closer Mason Miller.
Sources: #Dodgers have checked in with Padres on closer Mason Miller following news that Edwin Díaz is expected to undergo a procedure to remove loose bodies from his elbow.

Early talks are said to include C Dalton Rushing as a potential centerpiece. L.A. exploring all options.
Even if this popped up on your timeline from a somewhat legitimate-looking account and gave you an initial scare, wouldn't you look a little deeper, read the words "parody account," breathe a sigh of relief, and then go about your day?
We would. But the literal hundreds of people fretting in "Holly Baylor"'s replies aren't that smart.
Dodgers, Padres fans get fooled by crazy Mason Miller-Edwin Díaz rumor from parody account
The account also calls itself a Senior MLB Journalist for MLB on FAX, a notorious parody account. Seriously, guys. What are we doing here?
The initial tweet is flooded with replies such as this:
Padres are stupid if they trade Miller to their major competition

It's a parody account. Let's all hold hands and say it together: it's a parody account.
It's mostly Padres fans who are freaking out, but for some reason, fans of teams who aren't even in the NL West are finding ways to make it about them. "If Miller is available the Yankees should swoop in." "Cubs pitching is suffering right now." "Oh brother! The rich get richer."
It feels wrong to even dignify this with a logical explanation as to why this trade would never happen, but for anyone still wondering: the Padres would never trade their All-Star closer (who is already generating NL Cy Young hype, for some reason) to the greatest division rivals. San Diego is only a single game back of LA in the division right now. The Dodgers are not hurting for replacement closers.
And there we have it. Maybe just make a few more clicks before you expend energy tweeting your outrage at a fake person.
