Walker Buehler reunited with his old Dodgers teammates in July when LA went out to Fenway for a three-game series against the Red Sox. He received his World Series ring rather unceremoniously — in a little huddle made up of Dave Roberts and some members of the team — before going on to pitch 4 2/3 innings of three-run baseball in a game Boston eventually went on to win.
On Monday, he was back in LA for the first time since leaving in free agency — now as a member of the Philadelphi Phillies.
Buehler's had a difficult season. He had a 5.45 ERA in 112 1/3 innings for the Red Sox before they cut him loose on Aug. 29 in favor of a top prospect, so he didn't do much proving on his one-year prove-it deal.
Still, it only took him two days to find a new home in Philadelphia. It was only a minor league deal, but he was called up on Sept. 12. The NL West title was basically already in their hands, so they had nothing to lose calling up Buehler, who threw five one-run innings against the Royals in his debut.
While he's not necessarily assured a postseason rotation spot, Buehler's feats in the postseason are well-documented (and probably the main reason the Phillies took a chance on him at all).

Walker Buehler returns to Dodger Stadium with Phillies as they clinch NL East title
Buehler got to enjoy the Phillies' clinch celebration in the visiting clubhouse at Dodger Stadium on Monday, despite the fact that he joined the team all of two weeks ago, after the Dodgers' bullpen was completely embarrassing (again) and handed over the win in extra innings.
The Dodgers are destined for a Wild Card spot, and if they stay in the No. 3 seed, there's every chance that they'll see Buehler again in the NLDS if they can make quick work of the Mets. History tells us that the odds aren't in the Dodgers' favor if they see the Phillies, who are 13-9 against them in October.

Buehler could do for the Phillies exactly what he did with the Dodgers last year. Even with a bad regular season behind him, he could emerge a postseason hero again and get a respectable enough deal in the offseason.
Dodgers fans certainly felt some sort of nostalgia with his Dodger Stadium return, but they're now living with the possibility of having to face him in the playoffs. When he departed for the AL, that wasn't all that likely, as the Red Sox would've had to make a run to the World Series. But this could happen as early as the NLDS, and it's bizarre seeing Buehler celebrate with one of the enemies after just a couple of weeks since being released.
